FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ICA San Diego invites guests to shine bright together for an inspiring future as they celebrate contemporary art, education, and community for the 3rd ICA Bright Future Gala 2023
Gala Chair is: Linda Brandes

Gala committee: Maddie Fuller, Sean Leffers, Ingrid Westlake, and Lany Zikakis

San Diego, California February 28th, 2023–The Institute of Contemporary Art, San Diego announces ICA Bright Future Gala held on May 20th, 2023. The entire 6-acre property will be lit up with lights (powered by its own solar panel system), food, music, and dancing, and fun. ICA San Diego’s / North campus will be transformed with reflective portals, asking each of us to consider how the changes we make can produce a better world, mirroring ICA’s current season Limitless Growth, Limited World.

With six exhibitions across two locations and three buildings, artists explore consumption as an act, practice and reflex. “Our second season Limitless Growth, Limited World invites artists to delve on how we expand our understanding of consumption beyond the fulfillment of one’s wants and needs to consider how complex networks of creation, destruction, and exchange can both sustain and inhibit human culture.” Andrew Utt, Executive Director.

Doors open at 5 p.m. for a VIP experience with a one-of-a-kind performance and hosted bar in the Artist Pavilion at the top of the hill of our Encinitas campus. Linda Brandes will invite guests to cocktails in the garden and a delectable dinner (7 pm) by Chefs Jeffrey Strauss and Ron Oliver of Pamplemousse Grille followed by a lively auction with a shimmering after party to finish.

As part of ICA San Diego’s commitment to socially relevant contemporary art, ICA Bright Future Gala 2023 directly supports the residency program, regional artists, arts education programs, arts outreach to Title-I schools, and our Everyday Equity Admission program. Through ICA’s engagement initiatives and its free admission structure, ICA San Diego sees art as a way to create points of access, understanding, equity, and unity for our community. ICA San Diego encourages a diverse audience to discover the powerful benefits of art and strengthen our local cultural ecosystem.

Guests will have the possibility to purchase VIP+ tickets, including a limited edition unique print edition of 50 by Taylor Chapin, who examines consumerism and advertising to suggest the inherent comedy, and absurdity, of daily life.

Pre-loved futuristic bright couture
