Intoduction to Wheel Throwing (4-weeks) Fall #2 – 2026

This four-week beginner class introduces the fundamentals of wheel throwing. Students will learn clay preparation, centering, opening, pulling walls, and shaping basic forms. The class will also introduce trimming and finishing techniques.

The first three weeks focus on throwing, trimming, and preparing work for bisque firing. There will be a one-week break between the third and fourth class meetings while work is bisque fired. In the final class, students will learn basic glazing techniques and glaze their bisque-fired pieces.

No previous ceramics experience is required.

Please note: Final glaze firing will take place after the last class meeting. Students will be notified when their finished work is ready for pickup.

Because practice makes progress, all students receive FREE LAB ACCESS at the ICA Ceramics Lab for the duration of the class. More information to follow!

Materials Fee: $19 to be charged on the first day of class with credit/debit (no member discount on materials fee)

Note that all classes are subject to minimum enrollment. Enrolling early prevents classes from being canceled, and ensures your placement in them!

Cancellation/Refund Policy: Cancel up to 7 days before the start of class for a full refund. Cancellations less than 7 days before the start of class are ineligible for refund.
